気候物理学分野の佐野繭姫さん(D1)が国際放射会議2024にて若手研究者ベストポスター賞を受賞
2024年6月17-21日に中国杭州で行われた国際放射会議 (International Radiation Symposium 2024) にて、佐野繭姫さんが若手研究者ベストポスター賞を受賞しました。この賞は、大学院生または博士号取得後10年以内の若手研究者を対象として、優秀なポスター発表をした３名を表彰するものです。
佐野さんは、初めての国際会議参加で、エアロゾルによる夜空の明度の変化について"Modulation of Night Sky Brightness by Aerosol around the Capital Area in Japan"というタイトルでポスター発表を行いました。今回の受賞について、佐野さんに感想を聞いてみました。
「日本では、あまり大気放射学を専攻されている学生が少ない現状で、国内学会に参加しても同分野の学生と議論する機会はほとんどありませんでした。しかし、世界各国から同世代の学生が多く参加し、互いの研究に関して議論することができました。特に夜間観測に関する研究発表が複数あり、そういった方向の研究にもとても興味が湧きました。今回の受賞に関して、英語でコミュニケーションがうまく取れ、自身の研究を科学的に面白いと思ってもらえただけでなく、今後の応用的期待も視野に入れていただいた評価だと考えています。日本国内でも盛んに議論される研究になるように今後も頑張っていきたいと思います。」

Mayuki Sano won the Best Poster Award for Young Researchers
Mayuhi Sano received the Best Poster Award for Young Researcher at the International Radiation Symposium 2024 held in Hangzhou, China, on June 17-21, 2024. This award is given to three young researchers who gave excellent poster presentations as graduate students or within 10 years after obtaining their PhD.
This was the first time for Ms. Sano to participate in an international conference, and she gave a poster presentation with a title as "Modulation of Night Sky Brightness by Aerosol around the Capital Area in Japan". Ms. Sano said,
"In Japan, there are not many students majoring in atmospheric radiation, and when I attended domestic conferences, I had few opportunities to discuss with students in the same field. However, many students of the same generation from all the world attended the conference, and we were able to discuss each other's research. In particular, there were several presentations on nighttime observations, and I became very interested in research in this direction. I believe that this award was given to me not only because I was able to communicate well in English, and because they thought my research was scientifically interesting, but also because they took into account my future expectations for applications. I will continue to do my best so that my research will be actively discussed in Japan."
